Helideck Operations Initial Training (OPITO) (ER95P)

Target Group 
Personnel who are to be appointed to the role of an Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and / or Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA)

Course Objectives 
To equip delegates with the initial knowledge, understanding and skills required to perform the roles of Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) and Offshore Helideck Assistant (HDA) safely and effectively.

Course Outline 
 Offshore helideck regulations and guidelines
Helicopter and helideck hazards and management systems
HLO and HDA responsibilities during helicopter landing and departure
Cargo and passenger handling
HLO and HDA: Normally Unattended Installations

Practical exercise inclusive of:
Helideck checks, equipment, procedures and communications during helicopter operations
Helideck team brief pripr to helicopter landing at appropriate times during helicopter operations
Safe to approach protocols
Check passenger and freight manifests
As HLO, effectively supervise HDAs during passenger, freight and baggage handling
Comply with helicopter protocols and procedures during helicopter operations
Comply with helicopter danger areas rules

Pre Course Requirement 
As a minimum, delegates must complete an IATA, HCA, CAA or state aviation approved dangerous goods awareness training course. All delegates, prior to participating in practical exercise, must be in possession of a valid, current offshore or operator approved medical certificate.
